Marys Peak Natural Resources Interpretive Center

The
mission of the
Marys Peak Natural Resources Interpretive Center (MPNRIC) is to promote
community identity;
pride; and
integrity as a leader in natural resource management, education, conservation and restoration.
• We provide inquiry-based science education for students, teachers and the public.
• We provide interactive programs that immerse people in their forest, stream, wetland and upland ecosystems.
• We share knowledge and encourage constructive dialogue about natural resource issues.
• We model conservation and restoration activities that include service-learning and extended educational opportunities.
• We promote economic development by encouraging travelers to stop and spend time in the area.
• We support the integration of conservation with compatible natural resource industries.
We believe that by bringing citizens together to learn about, process and discuss natural resource issues, we can ultimately increase understanding between extreme philosophies.
Current Activities and Events
The Center provides
service learning opportunities for local youth. The Center trains educators. The Center provides school-based education programs as well as on and off-site field studies, laboratories, and classroom curricula. The Center brings experts in natural resources to the local community in a family-friendly environment.
Future Benchmarks of the Center:
The Center is an instructional
hub, providing information about on-site and nearby activities. A trail network connects outdoor recreation enthusiasts to the Benton County Trail System. Nature enthusiasts view wildlife in a natural environment through guided and self-guided walking tours. The Center serves as incubator to sustainable resources businesses. The Center attracts visitors and supports established Philomath businesses.
